Please Don’t Go
On November 20th, 2009, CL and Minzy released their long-anticipated single “Please Don’t Go.” The song is CL and Minzy’s solo debut collaborative single and it was produced by Teddy.
“Please Don’t Go” tells a sweet story about the girl who is in love and feels happy when he is by her side, but she becomes depressed and might go crazy when they are apart. She asks him to always stay by her side and don’t go. The chorus of the song is really catchy, “please don’t go. Stay by my side. Tonight I don’t wanna be alone. Please don’t go. You have to stay. So my feelings towards you will last an eternity, my baby. Let’s ride, ride till we reach the opposite side of the night. Let’s fly, fly till the sunrise.”
CL and Minzy first performed their collaboration song “Please Don’t Go” live on November 21st, 2009, at the Mnet Asian Music Awards for 2NE1’s musical performance titled “21 Jump Street.”
The duo sequentially performed the song on popular music program Inkigayo twice. CL and Minzy performed “Please Don’t Go” on Inkigayo on December 13th, 2009.
Previously, the youngest members of 2NE1 had their powerful stage performance of the single on Inkigayo on December 6th, 2009.
2NE1’s CL Shouted ‘Minzy’ In Every Performance
The two baddest maknaes in K-pop, CL and Minzy always show their powerful performances on stage. The powerful rapper CL, and the powerful dancer Minzy, always fascinated their fans, Blackjack, with their extraordinary stages and performances.
Minzy was the youngest member of 2NE1 and she was always loved by her older groupmates. CL, who was the former leader and also the second youngest member of 2NE1, was always proud of Minzy who has amazing dancing skills. Every time 2NE1 performed their debut song “Fire,” CL would shout Minzy’s name proudly during Minzy’s part.
2NE1 performed their last stage together during the 2015 Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA) at the AsiaWorld-Expo on December 2nd, 2015, in Hong Kong, China. As usual, CL kept shouting Minzy’s name proudly during her part. It was the last time Blackjack could watch and hear CL shouting Minzy’s name on stage.
2NE1’s CL Talked About Minzy
A year after 2NE1 officially disbanded, CL opened up about the group’s disbandment and Minzy. On November 30th, 2017, in an episode of tvN’s talk show Livin’ the Double Life CL talked about 2NE1’s disbandment and what she wanted to say to Minzy when she left the group in 2016. She also explained the process of writing the lyrics of “Goodbye,” the last song of 2NE1 before disbandment. During the show, she said, “I actually wrote those lyrics in 10 minutes. Honestly, our fans, Blackjacks, were also in my mind, however, those words actually were what I wanted to say to Minzy. It was basically just a letter that I wrote to Minzy.”
The former 2NE1 leader couldn’t hold back her tears when she shared her feelings about Minzy who left the group and the group disbanded. She then added, “It must be so hard for Minzy. I hope you are happy, and I am always cheering you on. And if you are going to be on your own way, do well. Show me what you can do.” CL also expressed her feelings that she has been struggling with the group’s disbandment. She said, “I feel sad about how things turned out. Personally, it was hard for me. Because I became a leader at an early age, I felt a strange responsibility. I wanted to keep going until the end.”

CL was not only the leader of 2NE1, but she also was the second youngest member of the group after Minzy. The two youngest members of 2NE1 have shown their cute interactions through their selcas, or selfie pictures. The picture above was taken during their trainee days under YG Entertainment before they officially debuted, one as the leader and the other one as the youngest member of 2NE1. In this picture, not only CL and Minzy but there’re also the two older members of 2NE1, Dara and Bom. The picture was taken when the four former 2NE1 members reunited to celebrate the group’s 10th anniversary on May 17th, 2019. CL and Minzy’s selfies were really eye-catching and cute. It was because there was an older member of 2NE1, Sandara Park photobombing the picture. The picture was taken when the two members of group 2NE1, CL and Gong Min-ji, topped various online charts with their comeback to the music industry with their collaboration single that was produced by Teddy, “Please Don’t Go.” The picture of former 2NE1 leader and the youngest member, CL and Minzy, was taken during the group’s reunion for the first time after disbanding in 2016. On May 17th, 2019, former members of 2NE1 got together to commemorate the group’s 10th Anniversary. CL and Minzy did not want to pass a rare moment just like that, both of them also captured that happy moment in a photo above.
